From Nothern Ireland
Paul Currie is an Irish award-winning alternative comedian & street clown, a Jim Henson Muppeteer (lead puppeteer on Sesame Street UK and many other Henson productions) and a pioneer of absurdist avant-guard comedy. He has been pushing the boundaries of clown & stand-up ever since his debut in 2004. By taking his brand of comedy, which is a fusion of clown, the pure anarchy of Jim Henson’s Muppet Show, surrealism, mime, music, storytelling and “in the moment” crowd participation he gently encourages audiences to think beyond the everyday comedy we are spoon fed via the TV and social media.
Each of Paul’s shows are never the same, he allows the audience to dictate where he goes with the madness to exhilarating ‘anything could happen’ sensational effect. He has taken his unique style of comedy not only into regular stand-up comedy clubs but also to the streets and to international contemporary arts festivals and comedy festivals across the globe: from a fixture at Glastonbury for 10 years now where he broke the record in 2019 for gathering the largest crowd to date for a street act (3,000) to Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, and from Belfast International Fool’s Festival to Utrecht International comedy Festival in Netherlands and to Fremantle International Street Festival.
He revels in breaking rules, opening audience’s minds to other ways of laughing and showing people (mainly adults) how to be kids again and that comedy has as wide a spectrum of genres as music & fine art.

“Paul Currie is a disturbingly brilliant comic who plays his crowd like the conductor of an orchestra. Currie’s ability to have the audience in his thrall as an ensemble, waiting expectantly in absolute silence for the next moment, is genius.”
★★★★★ Broadway Baby “Simply incredible!”
★★★★★ The Scotsman “Everything Currie does has the spirit of Vic & Bob, The Young Ones and everything surreal that’s come before or since.” ★★★★ EdFest magazine
